Injury crisis......STILL
Jackett admits his Millwall squad is down to the bare bones ahead of tomorrow’s League One fixture at Bristol Rovers.
The Lions manager’s first choice back four of Danny Senda, Paul Robinson, Zak Whitbread and Tony Craig remain on the sidelines.
Robinson actually returned to the side in Tuesday’s 2-0 cup defeat at Barnet but was forced off with an ankle problem – much to Jackett’s despair.
He said: “It’s another big blow. He will probably be out for six weeks after twisting his ankle ligaments in his other leg.
“It was pretty innocuous because he just landed awkwardly on it and twisted it.
“There are a lot of players missing at the back for us.
“If you go through Senda, Robinson, Whitbread and Craig, it’s not a bad back four.”
However, it isn’t just at the back where Millwall are struggling ahead of the visit to Bristol as Jason Price and Marc Laird also suffered injuries at Underhill which will see them miss out.
And with Steve Morison, Neil Harris, Lewis Grabban and Chris Hackett also unavailable, Jackett is challenging his fringe players to impress at the Memorial Stadium.
He said: “We are looking to push on. It is a hard place to go and we respect Bristol Rovers, but we certainly don’t fear them.
“It isn’t about the boys who aren’t playing but about those who are.
“They have to take their opportunity and take their chances.”
Gary Alexander and Ashley Grimes will spearhead Millwall’s attack and Danny Schofield is set to make his debut following his arrival from Yeovil earlier this week.
Jackett said: “Danny Schofield is an experienced midfield player and a creative midfield player.
“He is very good on the ball, has a good engine, can get around and can play anywhere being equally comfortable on the right or left.
“A player of his experience gives me options all the way along the midfield four.”
